Empowering families with young children to reach their fullest potential

In my work providing pregnancy and childbirth classes, postpartum doula support, and coaching for families with children prenatal to preteen, my goal is to empower families to make informed decisions. My vision is for everyone to develop optimally and reach their fullest potential.
The birth work I do is extremely important for reducing adverse effects on maternal and infant health. I make targeted efforts to reach African American families, communities of color, and low-income families, because for several measures of well-being for individuals and families in the U.S., racial, ethnic, and income inequalities exist.
As part of my work, I also translate Family Science research findings into relatable educational series and coaching conversations. I maintain a blog to share research-based information that individuals and families can use as they make decisions about their lives.
Witnessing families have “aha” moments is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. It’s priceless when I receive messages from people sharing great things happening in their lives because they used something I shared with them. Families reaching their goals is a source of pride because I am on a mission to help them thrive!
In the future, I want to expand my practice to address and work collaboratively with other groups to dismantle systemic injustice that limits human potential, so families and children who have been marginalized can flourish. Family Science and Family Life Education have the power to be transformative at multiple levels.
